What is Readers' Cup?
Readers' Cup is a competition where you form teams of 5 and read a selection of books. You will work in your team to read the books, discuss what you have read and take notes of significant information about the story. There will be some activities to do along the way. At the end of the reading and preparation time your team will compete against all the other teams in your grade. The competition will consist of trivia-like questions about each book. The team with the most correct answers will win the trophy. There will be other prizes and fun things on the day as well.
What should your group do to perform well?
- Read all the books. Ideally each person should read every book. The more you read the better chance you have!
- Take notes as you read and use the questions to guide your reading. Look back over your notes to help you remember things about the book. Keep your notes all in the one place.
- Support your reading by looking at the Extra Information section on each page.
- Work together as a team!!! Talk about the books with others in your group especially when more of you have read the same book. Make questions up to quiz each other.
- Compare your notes about the story with the members of your team. You will learn heaps from each other.
